The Timber Exporters’ Association of Malaysia (TEAM) is an organization that stands on representing the interests of its members since its establishment under its original name of Federation of Malaya Timber Exporters Association (FMTEA) in the year 1955. TEAM has been cooperating with many Government, and private agencies and their counterparts in building business paths and providing solutions to its members.

Industrial Governance Bodies:

MTIB – The Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB) is a statutory body accredited to the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities. MTIB was established in 1973 by an Act of Parliament. The main objective is to promote and coordinate the overall development of the timber industry. MTIB is responsible for initiating development of the various sectors of the timber industry and providing technical, marketing and other forms of assistance to ensure their continued growth within a rapidly industrialising Malaysian economy.

FRIM – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) is one of the leading institutions in tropical forestry research in the world. Founded in 1929, the former Forest Research Institute became a fully-fledged statutory body, governed by the Malaysian Forestry Research and Development Board (MFRDB) under the Ministry of Primary Industries, in 1985.

Jabatan Perhutanan – The Forestry Department Peninsular Malaysia (FDPM) is one of the departments under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Malaysia. The Forestry Department Peninsular Malaysia is responsible for the management, planning, protection and development of the Permanent Reserved Forests (PRF) in accordance with the National Forestry Policy (NFP) 1992 and the National Forestry Act (NFA) 1984.

Gaharu Plaza Indonesia, a sustainable private organization from Pekanbaru, Indonesia, has been providing consultancy with a focus on the inoculation process for all Rural Asset’s plantation site in Karak, Pahang and Merchang, Terengganu. Their main role includes providing consultancy and management services with a focus on the inoculation process.

With over the years of experience in Agarwood plantation, the organisation’s collaboration with few private sectors and global presence can be seen in 6 countries ranging from Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Brunei, Singapore and Saudi Arabia.

Mr Howard Ng heads this Malaysian – Taiwanese owned company who has proprietary intellectual property rights to the microrganism as well as the method to inoculate the agarwood trees. They have inoculated trees in Malaysia, Laos as well as Cambodia.
